Cockermouth is situated in the most beautiful corner of England - the Lake District in Cumbria. Its unique position also makes it within reach of the Solway coast (7 miles) and Scotland (30 miles). The M6 motorway, together with the A66 trunk road from the motorway to the west coast makes road communication very easy. An excellent main line service is available from nearby Workington, to Carlisle, the cathedral city, 25 miles away and there are regular connecting bus services to most parts of Cumbria and the Lake District. The town boasts a castle and two rivers - the Cocker (from which the town derives its name) and the Derwent, both ideal for salmon and trout fishing. Cockermouths most famous son is the great William Wordsworth, and his former residence is a fine local attraction. If youre looking for an active holiday, you really will be spoilt for choice. Allerdale Court Hotel - Directions:
FROM THE M6: Exit M6 at J40 onto the A66, direction of Keswick, Cockermouth, Workington. At Cockermouth take the third exit on the roundabout onto Lamplugh Road (A5086). Continue onto Gallowbarrow (A5086) and through onto Sullart St (A5086). At the junction turn right onto Market Street. Cross the river and then take your first right. The hotel is on the left hand side of the road.
